Investment management for business owners and families in St. Louis.

Your portfolio is the part of the plan that compounds. We keep it diversified, tax-aware, and uneventful on purpose.

Our approach

Evidence over forecasts

We don't try to predict markets, and we don't think anyone can do it reliably. We build portfolios the way the evidence suggests: own a broad slice of the world's companies and bonds, keep costs and taxes low, and stay disciplined when the news is loud. The plan decides how much risk you take, not the headlines.

How we invest

Four principles

Diversify broadly

Global stocks and bonds through diversified, low-cost funds, so no single company, sector, or country dominates the result. Diversification reduces risk; it doesn’t eliminate it.

Keep costs and taxes low

Fund expenses, trading, and turnover all come out of your return. We watch them, and we place holdings in the accounts where they're taxed least.

Rebalance with discipline

Targets, not opinions. When an allocation drifts, we bring it back, using new cash and withdrawals first to limit taxes.

Match the plan

The portfolio exists to fund the plan. Your timeline, income needs, and the business set the risk, and we revisit it as they change.

What you get

Included in investment management

A written investment policy

Your targets, your ranges, and the rules we follow, on paper, so decisions aren't made on the fly.

One allocation, every account

Taxable, IRA, Roth, trust, and the company plan, managed as one portfolio rather than five.

Fund selection

Mostly low-cost, diversified exchange-traded funds. Individual bonds, held to maturity, where a ladder fits the plan.

Tax management

Asset location, tax-loss harvesting, and care with when gains are taken, coordinated with your CPA.

Rebalancing and monitoring

Ongoing oversight, with trades when the plan calls for them and not because the market is noisy.

Custody

Where your money is held

Your money stays at Charles Schwab, in accounts titled to you. Belmont has authority to manage the accounts and to deduct its fee, nothing more. Schwab sends you its own statements and confirmations, so you see every holding and every transaction independently of us.

What we don't do: time the market, pick stocks for the core portfolio, use proprietary products, or earn commissions on anything we buy for you.

Common questions

What people in St. Louis ask about investing with us

Where are my accounts held?
At Charles Schwab, in accounts titled to you. Belmont’s authority is limited to what your advisory agreement allows: managing the accounts and deducting its fee. Schwab sends you its own statements, so you see every holding and transaction independently of us.
Do you pick individual stocks?
Rarely. The core portfolio uses diversified, low-cost funds. We do buy individual bonds for clients who want a ladder of known maturities, and we'll work around a concentrated position you already hold.
Can I keep my existing investments?
Often, yes. We review what you own, keep what fits the plan, and move what doesn't with the tax cost in mind. Nothing gets sold just because we didn't buy it.
How often do you rebalance?
When an allocation drifts past its target range, not on a calendar. We rebalance with taxes in mind, using new cash and withdrawals first where we can.
